There’s a pretty good reason to have a high voting age, being that young people are stupid. The problem with that is while many young people are stupid and probably shouldn’t be voting, that’s no reason to not allow young people to vote. I think the voting age shouldn’t be lowered to thirteen, but abolished all together. The ideal situation would be having some test that qualifies you to vote that is open to all ages, but the contents of the test would be disputed. I suppose the most reasonable things to put in there is simple American History such as the constitution and information about the actual candidates. Though this procedure isn’t perfect, I’d think it’s better than saying all people below 18 or whatever the voting age is is not smart enough to make decisions and everybody that’s older than the voting age is brilliant and should get the power to make decisions.
